How did HCSS get involved with Run for the Rose?

In 2002, Dr. Marnie Rose, a 27-year old pediatric resident with brain cancer, was part of an ABC show called Houston Medical. She amazed viewers with her determination to continue working through the full series before succumbing to her illness just a month after the last episode aired.

Sophie Rydin was deeply affected by Marnie's story, and HCSS became a sponsor for the Run for the Rose 5k after Sophie and Mike participated in the inaugural race in 2003. Read the HCSS story here: https://www.houstonchronicle.com/life/article/Company-runs-on-inspiration-6178070.php

Since then, the Dr. Marnie Rose Foundation has given more than $7 million to brain cancer and pediatric health initiatives in the Houston area, including the MD Anderson Cancer Center and Children's Memorial Hermann. HCSS, a 17-year sponsor, has continued to be an active participant every year, routinely sending the largest team.

This year, HCSS will again be sponsoring the "Hero area" inside the finish area next to the stage. This area highlights the lives and legacies of many that have fought against brain cancer. Please stop by and visit after the race.

Please invite your family, your friends, and anyone you think would like to participate in this special event. HCSS covers all registration fees via your wellness event fund and will reimbuse any parking fees for you and guests.

Help HCSS be largest team once again, while support a great cause!
